EllenThe Palomar Symphony Orchestra, directed by Ellen Weller, will be presenting a program of music inspired by Jewish culture March 29 and 30, 2014. The programs will feature the Second Avenue Klezmer Ensemble, a San Diego-based group co-directed by singer Deborah Davis and clarinetist Robert Zelickman, with guitar virtuoso George Svoboda, 21st century contrabass icon Bertram Turetzky and drumset mast Bob Weller. The Klezmer group will be joined by Maestra Weller on piano, then the full orchestra in Myron Fink's concerto, "A Bintl Lieder." Rounding out the performance will be the "Theme from Schindler's List" by John Williams, the third movement of Mahler's Symphony No. 1, and a surprise! October 25-26: Bach to Brubeck, teaming up with the Palomar Brass Ensemble and featuring music by Howard Brubeck, Madelyn Byrne and Aaron Copland's Four Dance Scenes from Rodeo.
