Danny Weller
Danny Weller (age 20): bassist, composer, violinist, percussionist. Danny is a graduate of the San Diego School for the Creative and Performing Arts High School. He is currently attending the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, studying with bassists Cecil McBee and John Lockwood. He attended UCSD for 2 years, enrolled in that school's Interdisciplinary Computers and Music curriculum, and where he studied with Bertram Turetzky, arguably the most important contrabassist of the 20th (and now 21st!) century.
Lately, Danny can be caught performing stealth jazz at Harvard Square on decent weather days, and with various ensembles at NEC. He will be playing at Croce's in San Diego on New Years Eve.
Danny has recorded with The Rabbinical School Dropouts, with a cd on the Tzadik label, and will be recording a cd of originals and jazz standards with Bob Weller and drummer Cliff Almond January 2005. One of his compositions was the title track for Trio Alchemy's "Reflections" cd (Tim McMahon, Rob Thorsen and Bob Weller).
